Welcome to TCBC!
It is a joy to have folks look us up on the web to see what we are about. We are an independent Baptist church in the country on the outskirts of town. Pekin, Illinois is where we are located, and our church is a landmark in the community. Many folks have visited this old building over its long historic existence. Formerly it was the Bethel Mennonite Church which was in existence for 99 years, thanks to the giants of the faith.
As Founding Pastor of TCBC, I had many visits with the dear people of Bethel Mennonite. My heart was touched by those I visited with, who wished they could have reached that 100 year anniversary. I quickly informed TCBC members that we needed to show our gratefulness to these precious people by giving them a 100 year anniversary celebration. We did so by celebrating their 100th along with our 1st anniversary in the old church building, which is right on Illinois Route 9, between Pekin and Tremont. This same loving atmosphere that brought two congregations together is the same loving spirit that still thrives today. At TCBC, our motto is that "you have an audience of one," and as long as we are all pleasing God in our service to Jesus, then we will have the same goals and will all be in one accord.
We are working toward a way to make our building hanidcap accessible. We are planning to adapt our side entry way so that our veterans and other individuals that have difficulty with stairs would be better able to enter the building. We have started a fund to pay for the improvements that would make this possible. We would like to maintain the aesthetics of the biulding and do it in a fashion that it holds to the quaintess of this charming, community landmark.
